Wind is a spatial and temporal highly variable energy resource. Major wind energy developments therefore require an adequate and precise wind prediction.
Forecasting in the range of 48 - 24 h is needed for the integration of wind energy into the power grid and inter-day trading on the market. Shorter forecast ranges (below 6 h), so-called “Nowcastings”, enable an adequate regulation of the wind turbines and intra-day trading, and they ensure the safety of the power grid.
