Progress of Projects
The first project that our companies jointly undertook in Romania was in 2003. Initially, Wind Measurements were taken on especially erected measuring masts during this early stage. Currently, we are measuring the wind conditions on almost 20 masts up to 60 meters above ground in an area covering some 2’500 km2. Since summer 2008, we have also conducted LIDAR measurements at several locations. This allows us to conduct precise wind modelling throughout the whole region where the projects are located.
We have received Planning Permission from all the municipalities involved, this gives us the security of being the only developer allowed to develop wind energy projects within the specific project area we dedicated to the authorities. This covers some 700 - 800 locations for turbines which can be installed in our projects.
Topographical and Cadastral Work for the projects, this is either ongoing or has already been completed depending on the specific project.
The Land Contracts with the owners of the plots have been signed or will be signed within the coming months. They are deposited for official registration at the National Land Register Offices.
The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) as well as the avifauna and bird studies are ongoing and under way. For some of our projects, EIA’s have already been completed, and some of them already obtained the EIA-permits.
As per August 01, 2010, our company is in possession of the final construction licences for the wind farms Mihai Viteazu I, II, III and IV, totaling some 80 MW of installed power. These projects will be constructed and operated by our partner, the Spanish utility Iberdrola Renovables, S.A., who will start construction here later this year.
Also the first 4 of our wind projects in the Municipality of Cogealac are in the meanwhile fully permitted and received the final construction licences by beginning of July, 2010. This means that the projects Cogealac IX, X, XI and XV, which will be connected to our new station at Tariverde, are ready to be implemented as well. Construction will start once the exact operational schedule by Iberdrola Renovables, S.A. is in place. This must be adapted to the delivery time of the transformer which will be of the size of 550 MVA.
The major part of our project pipeline has been purchased by Iberdrola
Renovables, S.A., Spain. Apart from these projects, we develop several
new wind projects from the green field, what has been initiated by us during
autumn, 2007. We will be ready to negotiate an agreement related to these
projects with potential investors ongoing from the mid of 2010.
